It was clear GMMTV did not think this show would take off, evident by the lack of promotions during the airing of Enemies with Benefits. However, JanJingJing proved everyone wrong and the result was one of the most popular GLs of 2026 (so far)! Lal (Jan) is the new head of sales at Syntara, the company where Wine (JingJing) is the current head of accounting. They immediately clash, which is further perpetuated by the widespread belief their teams don’t get along. This leads their coworkers to come to the conclusion they are enemies. Lal even tells her best friend she hates Wine, yet he encourages her to befriend Wine in order to turn her so-called enemy in to an ally. Their animosity doesn’t last long though, as Lal protects Wine from inappropriate coworkers at a company dinner and they leave together. They go to Lal’s place for Wine to change and end up sleeping together, completely changing their dynamic. They decide to have a friends with benefits relationship that they hide from their company due to a no-dating policy.

What I love the most about their relationship is that they are real adults. I mean this in the sense that they are grown, mature, and are able to make sensible choices (within the confines of a drama). They communicate and respect each others’ boundaries. I especially see this with Lal. She is such an enjoyable character to watch because she is how the audience wants every character to act. When there is conflict, she wants to talk it through. If there’s a problem, she addresses it without giving the silent treatment or acting hostile. If she does something wrong, she apologizes. This behavior isn’t reserved for Wine. She treats everyone around her with respect and carries her people with everything she has. Her responsibilities to her family were also briefly shown, with her duties as the oldest sister explaining a lot of her personality. I’m sure many eldest siblings can relate to the feelings of duty and responsibility that Lal had for both her family and her friends. Both Lal and Wine are very loyal people and that is reflected through many of their actions throughout the show.

Wine is loyal to the company and her team, in which she does everything she can to protect them, even at the expense of her relationship. Her friendships are also very important to her character and the plot. Tangkwa (Kapook) trusts in her highly competent team leader and does everything she can to support her and the team. Proud (Ciize) joins the company in order to help Wine uncover issues in the company and protect her position. Cheese (Mim) was a fun guest to see the unserious side of Wine outside of her dynamic with Lal. All of Wine’s friends are supportive of her and her goals, which makes their scenes feel warm as, with the help of Lal, they are the people who continue to build her up throughout the show.

I thoroughly enjoyed the second-lead couple from this series. I personally didn’t like Proud much at first, because of how she behaved towards Lal. I understood that she liked Wine but felt that her actions were childish in comparison to all the other characters in the show. I was very happy when she and Tangkwa naturally started to get to know each other better, which led to Proud acting less childish and more enjoyable to watch.

Overall, Tangkwa and Proud brought a sense of calm to the show, as their relationship didn’t have much conflict. The only problem they had was Proud’s known crush on Wine before they met. Proud consistently confirmed she had feelings for Tangkwa whenever she felt doubtful, never making her feel bad for asking. To me, this showed the strong foundations of their relationship and that there would never be issues over whether either of them were genuine. Both were clear about their feelings and truly cared for each other. Also, despite Proud’s past feelings for Wine, both continued to support Wine inside and outside of the office.

I have seen both Kapook and Ciize in many shows as supporting roles, so I was eager to see what they would look like together. I loved their chemistry and hope to see them together in more shows. They deserve a show where they are the main leads, so I’m excited for them to create their mascot and become an official pairing.

A large part of the plot was discovering who was behind the loss of clients, as well as why Wine was so hesitant to get into a relationship with Lal. Wine’s mistrust of men was 100% valid considering her past experiences with her coworkers, as well as her mother’s words. Her mother was supportive of Wine, but knew the world wouldn’t be, even if she was the victim. Her words were honest and reflective of the daily struggles of being a woman, which led me to feel even more sad for Wine’s situation, because it couldn’t be any closer to reality.

I was already angry while watching the scenes of Wine and New, but watching the Korn subplot was very much a struggle. It was frustrating seeing how his actions drove Wine and Lal apart, solely because Wine didn’t want Lal to be put in a position where she could be hurt like Wine was. Wine’s past was difficult and seeing how Lal was able to help her overcome the pain of her past was encouraging. It was what helped me to continue watching when I didn’t want to see either of them hurt any longer. I was glad to see justice served at the end, so that Wine would be able to move on individually and in her relationship with Lal. Everything was tied up nicely at the end in a way that made sense. Nothing happened that felt too fictitious and every character got what they deserved at the end. Overall, the plot was very well done and the characters’ actions were consistent, making it a very enjoyable watch.

In conclusion, I’m extremely happy that JanJingJing got the success they deserve from Enemies with Benefits. It was a great show with realistic characters that made every episode enjoyable. Even when there were difficulties, Wine and Lal persevered and their relationship is all the better for it. I can’t wait to see them reprise their roles in Bake Love Feeling. I recommend this show, especially for people who have not watched a GL before, because it is a great representation of the genre (of which you should further explore!). I hope the success of Enemies with Benefits shows GMMTV the potential of the women in the company, so that they will get more projects in the future.
